Obama's Pants on Fire Again

Obama’s Pants are on Fire Again
The View from the Middle

I don’t know about you, but I am tired of the lying in politics today.  Our President was the liar of the year for his famous “If you like your plan, you can keep it” lie, and Hillary has had so many “pants on fire “ awards that she has started buying asbestos undies.  And now the President is at it again on Obamacare.  It seems the only way to defend the ACA is to deceive, fabricate or otherwise stretch the truth to its absolute breaking point.
Yesterday, Obama admitted that prices are going up on his signature legislation’s insurance plans.  That is true.  On Average premiums are going up 25%.  Of course, he didn’t mention that deductibles are going up so high as to make these plans unaffordable if not unusable.  I would call this a lie of omission, but that was just the beginning of the deception.
Then, he said that only a handful of people were actually going to be paying these higher premiums.  I struggle to find a way to even begin to unpack the deceit in this one statement.  First, let me start by pointing out that 2.2 million people will actually be paying these new higher premiums out of pocket or choosing to pay the fine for not having insurance.  That’s quite a “handful”.
Next, let me drop a real truth bomb on all of you.  EVERY PERSON buying Obamacare plans next year will be paying more for their plans.  Some will qualify for subsidies, which Obama seems to think is some kind of “fairy dust” that he can sprinkle over these policies to make the cost increases go away.
Let me remind you all for the umpteenth time that THE GOVERNMENT HAS NO MONEY.  Whenever you hear a politician say the words “subsidy” or “investment” that means TAXES!!!!  They are spending your money.
So let’s be sure we all understand what is happening.  All of the participants in Obamacare next year will be paying higher premiums or choosing to pay the fine.  Some of those people will be paying these increases out of their own pockets.  All of the others will be paying these increased prices out of YOUR pockets.  There is no such thing as a free lunch.  Whether it is “free” college or “subsidized” health care, some American citizen is paying for it.

Be warned.  Be diligent.  Be cynical.  And most of all, be afraid of a government that no longer knows how to tell the truth or no longer cares to even try.

  1. C'mon, Kevin. If you are really in the middle you need to include that the other candidate isn't exactly Mother Theresa when it comes to the truth, eh?
