Don't be deceived by misleading talking points. Defenders of the IRS (it's hard to believe that there are any) will try to say that Progressive groups were denied 501 C 4 status at the same rate as conservative groups or that they were "investigated" at the same rate. Those statements might be accurate, but they are very misleading. First, ALL groups applying for status will get "investigated", so that is not even the issue. Second, the targeted groups were not approved or denied. Their status was just dragged out so long that they either gave up or at least did not get to participate in the 2012 election process.
Here is a challenge for all defenders of the IRS. Name one progressive group who was asked to reveal to the IRS, under the penalty of perjury, what they PRAYED for. Name one progressive group that was offered approval for 501 C 4 status if they promised never to run for office. Name one progressive group that was asked for copies of every speech that was ever given to their organization. These are just a few of the ridiculous questions that were asked of the truly "targeted" conservative groups. Don't be deceived. The weaponization of the IRS should strike fear in the hearts of every American, conservative or liberal, black or white, male or female.
